‘The Three Musketeers (2011)’ Announced for Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D

Paul W. S. Anderson’s action blockbuster is planned for both Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D in March.

In an early announcement to retailers, Summit Entertainment will release ‘The Three Musketeers (2011)’ starring Logan Lerman, Orlando Bloom, and Milla Jovovich on Blu-ray on March 13.

‘The Three Musketeers (2011) – 3D’ will also be available on the same date.

The hot-headed young D’Artagnan along with three former legendary but now down on their luck Musketeers must unite and defeat a beautiful double agent and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war.

Specs have yet to be detailed, but supplements will include: Audio commentary with director Paul W.S. Anderson, deleted and extended scenes, Cast and Crew Stories, 17th Century Action, and more.

Suggested list price for the Blu-ray is $30.49 and the Blu-ray 3D is $34.99.

Logan Lerman praises Emma Watson and Nina Dobrev

Young up and coming Hollywood star Logan Lerman has taking time out of his busy schedule, to reveal how impressed he was with the level of talent on the set of the movie The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Logan stars alongside an all star cast including Harry Potter star Emma Watson and The Vampire Diaries actress Nina Dobrev.

Lerman admitted that his co stars were extremely talented and he managed to learn quite a lot from them. Logan explained, “It was one of the most creatively compelling experiences. The cast is just so mind blowingly talented.”

The Perks of Being a Wallflower also stars Paul Rudd and Johnny Simmons, it is expected to be released sometime next year. Logan Lerman can next be seen when he stars as D’Artagnan in The Three Musketeers, which is set to be released on October 12 in the UK and October 21 in the US.

Logan Lerman Is ‘Only Living Boy In New York’

Logan Lerman is set to star in The Only Living Boy In New York, an indie that now has Horrible Bosses helmer Seth Gordon attached to direct. A fall production start is eyed.

The Allen Loeb-scripted film is a twisted coming-of-age tale in which a young man (Lerman) learns that his overbearing father is having an affair. The son tries to stop it, only to become involved with the woman as well. With advice from a questionable quirky neighbor, the young man learns about love.

The Only Living Boy In New York is produced Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, and John Fogel is executive producer. Lerman’s repped by CAA and Lisa Lerman, and CAA is repping the film’s North American distribution rights.

Logan Lerman Interview: ‘The Three Musketeers’ is the Most ‘Badass’ Yet

Logan Lerman, the star of the upcoming high-action depiction of ‘The Three Musketeers,’ talks about portraying one of literature’s most beloved characters – in a contemporary retelling of the tale.

Last week at WonderCon Summit Entertainment screened a sneak peek of their upcoming action adventure The Three Musketeers.
In addition to the footage that was presented, Summit offered select press interviews with Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson, 3:10 to Yuma) who plays D’Artagnan in the film.

Lerman found the experience of portraying “one of the most iconic characters in literature” to be an incredible one.
The young actor embraced the opportunity to be a part of the retelling of one of his grandfather’s most beloved tales. When asked how his interpretation would differ from the previous depictions of D’Artagnan, Lerman replied:

“It’s much more badass. We definitely wanted to up the action, and give it a cooler spin. A well deserved cooler spin. This is nothing that anyone’s going to expect when thinking about the long line of D’Artagnans, and how much older they were than the character is. Paul (W.S. Anderson) wanted to get somebody who was closer to the actual age of the character, because he’s 18 in the novel. So, yeah, expect a badass D’Artagnan who actually is the most dangerous character in the film, because nobody knows who he is when he comes to the city from a small town, and he’s trying to prove himself.”

According to Lerman, becoming the most “badass” D’Artagnan that the world has ever seen requires a fair amount of preparation:

“I think I had the most fight scenes in the film, so I wanted to make sure that D’Artagnan looks like a badass with a sword, and fencing is such a detailed sport that I wanted to make sure that it looked right, and we can please fencers all over the world. So I trained for maybe eight or nine months. Right when I found out I was doing it I was training immediately and throughout filming we were (training) every day. Any free time, in between takes, or lunch breaks, I would be training with the stunt team on the film for hours and hours a day.”

Though Lerman had done some fight and weapons training for Percy Jackson, the actor feels this film is in “a whole different league of sword play. It’s way more detailed, way more dangerous — and it’s going to blow people away.” Lerman continued by saying that, D’Artagnan “is supposed to be the best swordsman of the group. He’s also supposed to be the most wild and insane swordsman, so we tried to make a different style for him.”

The film itself seeks to differentiate itself from the previous iterations of The Three Musketeers as, what Lerman calls, “a more contemporary version” of the classic tale.

“It’s the untold chapter where the Musketeers are weaponry experts, and they’re kind of looked at as being the James Bonds of their time, with gadgets, and little gizmos, and fun things instead of just sword fighting. It makes for a lot of fun, and offers a different twist than the other “Three Musketeers” films.”

One of the aforementioned “gizmos” just happens to be a flame-thrower that Matthew Macfadyen (Athos) makes use of in the film – a fact which Lerman laughingly tells us was cause for “a lot of jealousy” on his part during production. If you have not yet done so, take a look at The Three Musketeers trailer, and see for yourself that this is, as Lerman says “not your father’s ‘Three Musketeers.’”

Nina Dobrev and Paul Rudd join in “Perks of Being a Wallflower”

As Deadline told you, Summit Entertainment post-Twilight Saga is continuing to bet heavily on books for its future franchises. Most are conducive to young casts. Now I can report that another young actress to watch is making the transition from TV to movies: CW’s The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev has been cast as Candace in the film based on Stephen Chbosky’s novel The Perks of Being A Wallflower, which the author is adapting for Harry Potter’s Emma Watson and Logan Lerman as well as Paul Rudd. This was a much sought-after lead role. The 22-year-old Bulgarian-Canadian actress played Mia Jones, the single teenage mother, on Degrassi: The Next Generation, from the show’s 6th to 9th season. She currently plays Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce on The Vampire Diaries and won the “Young Hollywood Making Their Mark” category at the 12th Annual Young Hollywood Awards.
