“It’s definitely happening, we’re shooting that soon,” Logan assured us, when asked about the film’s production status. “We’re starting in a month now, so I’m excited. [Emma and I] haven’t worked together [before], but we met up and everything,” he said.

Logan added that everyone involved with the film is very attached to the book as well.

“We’re all really passionate about that movie. It’s a book that’s affected us all,” he said. “The story is ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower,’ it’s a book that we’ve all known, Emma and I, some other people, it’s really affected us since it came out. I read it years ago. It’s an honor to be in that film and to be able to portray Charlie.”

Although an official start date is unknown, the shooting location isn’t.

“We’re shooting in Pennsylvania,” Logan said. “I’m not sure the exact start date, but it should be a month from now or so, and I’m excited.”

Stand Up To Cancer will return to prime-time TV on Sept. 10, 2010, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The one-hour fundraising event will be simulcast live and commercial-free on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, HBO, Discovery Health, E!, MLB Network, The Style Network, VH1, HBO Latino, Showtime, TV One and G4.

“I know nothing, to be honest,” Lerman told MTV News. “As for that movie, Marc Webb has got to be one of the most talented directors out there. Whatever he does, whatever Sony does with the film, they’re going to make an awesome movie. But I know nothing about it.”

Was the actor ever actually in discussions? Is he still a contender or has he been knocked out? While Lerman remains tight-lipped about exactly how extensive his conversations with Sony were, it’s clear now from his words that the actor is no longer in consideration for the part.

“Basically I was just a fan,” he said. “Just a guy who was interested in the movie and I was just hoping to be considered for it. As of right now, I don’t know where they’re going with it. Whoever they get and whatever happens with it, I’m sure they’re going to make an awesome movie out of it.”

So with Lerman seemingly not fated to land the Parker role, who in fact will take over for Tobey Maguire? Rumor has it that Sony has narrowed its sights to five actors: Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Frank Dillane, Andrew Garfield and Josh Hutcherson. As for Lerman, the kid didn’t even get a chance to try on that iconic Spidey suit.

“No,” he said when asked about the suit. “No.”

Two adaptations of Alexandre Dumas’ 17th-century adventure tale “The Three Musketeers” are racing toward the big screen, but only one will be presented in 3-D. And as MTV News has learned, that version — directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich, Logan Lerman, Orlando Bloom and Christoph Waltz — will not only be shot in three dimensions but will utilize the camera technology pioneered by James Cameron for “Avatar.”

“Shooting in 3-D. We’re not converting,” star Lerman told us last week during the run up to the MTV Movie Awards. “We’re really going to be popping out at you…. We’re using the Jim Cameron technology and all that. It’s going to be nuts. It’s going to look really cool. And trust me, from everything I’ve seen, it’s going to blow people away.”

There’s no set start date for shooting, though producers have an eye on a 2011 release date. For now, Lerman is busy training for the role of d’Artagnan, the young risk-taker who dreams of becoming one of the famed Musketeers.

“I just started two weeks ago and it’s pretty intense learning the fencing,” Lerman said. “Just hours in the gym every day. It’s an intense process.”

The training process, it seems, is rather more intense than the casting process. Coming off his turn as the sword-swinging son of Poseidon in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” Lerman didn’t even have to submit to a formal audition.

“It was the weirdest process for me, because usually there is a process,” he told us. “Usually you go through auditions and you really try to fight for the role. But they came to me and they were just really invested in the idea that I can do it. I met with Paul and we hit it off and we were like, ‘Yeah, let’s make an awesome film together.”

The movie is expected to stay true to the swashbuckling soul of the classic novel while infusing the story with a contemporary sensibility and the visual effects with the latest tech Hollywood has to offer. But will there be a radio-friendly single to accompany the flick, as there was for the 1993 version starring Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O’Donnell? Who can forget that #1 Billboard single, “All for Love” — which doesn’t exactly hold up almost two decades later — courtesy of Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart and Sting?

“I haven’t heard anything, but it’d be cool,” laughed Lerman. “I gotta pitch that one now. A new theme song.”

As awesome as fight scenes often look on film, much less when they’re intense enough to earn a nomination for Best Fight at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, it turns out that they’re not always as exciting on set as they ending up looking on the silver screen. Describing the process of putting together his scuffle with Jake Abel in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,” Percy Jackson himself, Logan Lerman explained that shooting the scene was occasionally a little uncomfortable.

“It was awkward,” Lerman admitted in an interview with MTV News.”I felt really stupid doing it. You’ve got to put your mind outside of the room and embarrass yourself a little bit and feel comfortable to be in the moment.”

Notwithstanding his fight in the movie itself, Lerman will soon find himself battling with a capable group of candidates for the Best Fight award, including showdowns between Beyonce and Ali Larter, Hugh Jackman, Live Schreiber and Ryan Reynolds, Robert Downey Jr. and Mark Strong, and Sam Worthington and Stephen Lang. But even as a budding bruiser, the young actor seemed confident about his fight scene’s chances. “You throw ‘em all in the ring, I think ‘Percy Jackson’ is going to win.”
